Prof. Dr. rer. pol. Gernot Liedtke is acting Director of the Institute of Transport Research at the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) and also Head of the Sub-Department Freight Transport at the Institute of Land and Sea Transport at the Technical University of Berlin. His research focuses on the modelling of commercial freight transport and public transit and on macroeconomic evaluation methods. Prof. Dr. Liedtke is a trained physicist and industrial engineer. He began his academic career in 2000 as a research assistant at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), where he established the “Freight Transport and Economic Logistics” working group at the Chair of Network Economics. After his habilitation in economics, he was appointed Professor of Freight Transport at TU Berlin in 2014 and simultaneously became head of the department of the same name at DLR. From 2022 to 2023, he headed the Transport Markets and Transport Services department before being promoted to acting Director at the Institute of Transport Research. In addition to his academic and research duties, Prof. Dr. Liedtke heads the Freight Transport Working Committee of the Road and Transport Research Association.
