Elise Miller-Hooks holds the Bill and Eleanor Hazel Endowed Chair in Infrastructure Engineering and is Department Chair of the Sid & Reva Dewberry Department of Civil, Environmental & Infrastructure Engineering at George Mason University. She is founding Editor-in-Chief of Elsevier’s Sustainability Analytics and Modeling journal. She previously served as an advisor to the World Bank, as a program officer (PO) (for Civil Infrastructure Systems, lead PO for CRISP, cognisant PO on initial SCC) at the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) and on the faculties of the University of Maryland, Pennsylvania State University and Duke University. She is past chair of the TRB Transportation Network Modeling Committee, past president of the INFORMS (Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences) Transportation Science and Logistics Society (TSL) and past president of the Women in OR/MS Forum (WORMS). She served as the Chair for the ITF’s Roundtable on Transport System Resilience in Paris in 2023. Her research has resulted in ~210 articles and reports, and over 380 conference presentations/seminars with ~160 invited lectures, including numerous keynote and plenary lectures. Her research has received extensive funding from numerous agencies and companies. She received her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas – Austin, where she has been inducted as a distinguished alumni, and B.S. in Civil Engineering from Lafayette College.
