Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe is an accomplished Ghanaian politician with over two decades of dedicated service in governance and public administration. A committed member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Nikpe is widely respected for his leadership, strategic insight, and strong track record in both constituency development and national policy.

Currently serving his fourth term as the Member of Parliament for Saboba in the Northern Region, Hon. Nikpe has consistently demonstrated effective representation and unwavering commitment to his constituents. In February 2025, he was appointed Minister for Transport, a role in which he oversees the maritime and inland waterways, aviation, railways, and road transport sectors. His leadership in this ministry is driven by a vision to modernize Ghana’s transport infrastructure and promote sustainable economic development through improved mobility and connectivity.

Throughout his legislative career, Hon. Nikpe has served on several key parliamentary committees, including the Privileges and Immunities Committee, the Finance Committee, the Special Budget Committee, the Employment Committee, the Social Welfare Committee, and the House Committee. He has held notable leadership positions such as Ranking Member of the Committee on Employment, Labour Relations, and Pensions (2024), and previously served as Vice Chairman of the same committee from 2013 to 2016. His experience also extends to the international stage, where he represented Ghana at the ECOWAS Parliament, playing a vital role in advancing regional cooperation and integration.

Hon. Nikpe holds a Master of Arts in Gender and Security, a Bachelor of Technical Education from the University of Education, Winneba, and a certificate in Citizenship Participation in Local Governance from the Hague Academy of Local Governance in the Netherlands.
