Claudia Pizarro is a public administrator and a prominent Chilean politician, currently mayor of the municipality of La Pintana. From an early age, she lived in the Pablo de Rokha neighbourhoods areas historically marked by poverty, working-class identity, and social exclusion. There, she actively participated in neighbourhood and pastoral dining halls, experiences that shaped her deep vocation for public service.
During the military dictatorship, she was a member of the Sebastián Acevedo Movement Against Torture, courageously opposing the systematic violence of the period and reaffirming her commitment to the defence of human rights.
In 2016, she made history as the first woman elected Mayor of La Pintana. Her re-elections in 2021 and 2024 further consolidated her leadership and strong community presence.
In 2022, she was recognised by El Mercurio as one of Chile’s 100 Women Leaders, in honour of her work to reduce territorial segregation and improve the quality of life for local residents. Her experience and unwavering dedication have established her as a leading figure in municipal governance, renowned for her ability to address the complex challenges of vulnerability and segregation that define La Pintana. She is also a respected voice in debates on public safety and urban development.
