How CargoBeamer Enables Intermodality for all Semi-Trailers in Europe

The modal shift from road to rail is in a desperate need for new solutions, especially regarding shifting the large amount of non-craneable semi-trailers to rail. CargoBeamer has developed a new approach to load semi-trailers on intermodal railcars horizontally, allowing for fully automated loading and unloading procedures in specialised road-rail CargoBeamer-Terminals. With the CargoBeamer technology, handling time of an entire train is reduced to 20 minutes, a significant improvement compared to 4-6 hours conventional technologies still need.

CargoBeamer is currently setting up its European network and has established intermodal connections in Germany, France, Italy, and the UK. Its first terminal is operational in Calais, France, with the second and third terminal destined to open by 2026 in Germany and Italy.
