Jeong Joon Yu

Jeong Joon (JJ) Yu is Vice Chairman of SK Group and Head of U.S. Government & Corporate Affairs for SK Group. Mr. Yu is also CEO of PassKey Inc., a U.S. subsidiary of SK E&S. In his role as Vice Chairman of SK Group, Mr. Yu serves as a member of the executive leadership team implementing a global strategy to advance sustainable businesses and expand into new markets. In 2022, Mr. Yu was appointed U.S. Head of Government & Corporate Affairs, acting as the principal liaison for SK Group companies with U.S. government officials and business partners. Mr. Yu’s vast experience in the past 25 years covers a range of industries, including oil and natural gas as well as clean energy alternatives. Mr. Yu previously served for 10 years as CEO of SK E&S, where he transformed SK E&S to be the first private Korean company to establish a presence in every part of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) value chain. As CEO of PassKey, Mr. Yu is leading the development of businesses and technologies that can help accelerate the transition of the U.S. grid to more sustainable forms of energy. Mr. Yu brings a notable resume and track record of success from various multi-billion-dollar projects across the globe. Since joining SK in 1998, he has held several executive leadership positions including roles with SK Inc., SK Group’s strategic investment arm; SK Energy; SK E&S; and the SUPEX Council, the lead advisory panel across all SK Group companies. Mr. Yu began his career as a senior accountant at the New York office of Deloitte & Touche in 1987, and later joined McKinsey & Co. to establish its Seoul office in 1991. Mr. Yu is a Trustee for the Korea University Foundation; chairs the Energy Alliance; and is on the Board of the Korea Institute of Energy Technology. Mr. Yu holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Korea University; an M.S. in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and a PhD in Economics from the Seoul National University of Science & Technology. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
