Juan Carlos Muñoz
Civil Industrial Engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California (Berkeley), USA, and Master in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the same university. With extensive experience in academia, he has worked in research areas focusing on transport operations, public transport systems, logistics and vehicular traffic theory, among others. Until his appointment, he was a full professor in the Department of Transport and Logistics Engineering at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and director of the Centre for Sustainable Urban Development, CEDEUS. He was a member of the committee of experts promoted by the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications to suggest improvements to public transport and served on the boards of the Santiago Metro and the Valparaiso Regional Metro (MERVAL). He is the author of the book Bus Rapid Transit and the Restructuring of Public Transit (2016) and has published extensively in national and international journals on mobility and transport issues, being recognised as an international expert.
