Bernadette Bergsma is Director of Communications and EU Affairs at EIT Urban Mobility, Europe's largest network for transport innovation in cities. She leads the organisation’s external engagement, strategic communications, public affairs, marketing, and flagship events. She is responsible for shaping EIT Urban Mobility’s public voice, enhancing its visibility, and positioning it as a trusted partner in the transition to more sustainable and liveable cities.
Involved since the early stages of EIT Urban Mobility in 2016, Bernadette has played a key role in shaping its external positioning and growing its visibility across Europe. She drives both high-level advocacy and thought leadership initiatives, leads engagement with EU institutions and international stakeholders, and oversees integrated communications strategies that connect innovation, policy, and impact.
Previously, she served for over a decade as EU Strategic Advisor for the City of Eindhoven at the Brainport EU Brussels Office, focusing on mobility, smart cities, and energy. She brings deep experience in stakeholder relations, European R&I projects, and cross-sector collaboration.
