Kalliopi Anastassiadou

Dr.-Ing. Kalliopi Anastassiadou has been a senior researcher at the Division “Structural Technology” of the Federal Highway and Transport Research Institute (BASt) in Bergisch Gladbach since July 2012.
Her work focuses on infrastructure resilience and civil security, where she leads and coordinates national and international research projects aimed at improving the resilience, safety and reliability of transport infrastructure, particularly in the context of bridges and tunnels. As a member of a departmental research institution, she supports the German Federal Ministry of Transport through, among other things, application-oriented research, technical consulting, and the implementation of research results into national and international regulations.
Previously, from 1996 to 2012, after her studies at the Institute of Mineral Resourcing Engineering at the Technical University of Crete (TUC) she worked as a lecturer and research associate at the Institute for Environmental Engineering of the TUC. Her doctoral thesis (2010) at the Laboratory of Hazardous Waste Management focuses on the hydrothermal treatment of asbestos containing materials.
She is actively involved in several committees focusing on resilience research, such as PIARC TC 1.4 Planning the Resilience of Road Networks - Climate Change and other Hazards, International Transport Forum Resilience Working Group, and the National Working Group of Authorities for the implementation of the German Resilience Strategy and the BMV-Research Network of the Federal Ministry of Transport.
