Hirohisa Tsuruta embarked on a distinguished career in the transport sector when he joined the Ministry of Transport in 1990. Over 35 years, he has gained experience across a wide range of transport sectors, such as aviation, railways, logistics and road transport.
His professional journey also includes postings as Counsellor at the Permanent Delegation of Japan to the OECD and Councillor of the Cabinet Secretariat.
In July 2025, after having served as Director-General of Logistics and Road Transport Bureau, he was appointed Deputy Minister for Policy at the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT).
