Lecturer
Fabian is a Lecturer in Organisational Resilience and Change at Cranfield University, where he leads research focused on enhancing the resilience of organisations and complex networks. His research explores how capabilities, mechanisms and frameworks can be developed to strengthen adaptive capacity, coordination and continuity in the face of disruption. One notable example was a project funded by the Data and Analytics Facility for National Infrastructure to develop a mass diversion simulation tool for the UK aviation system in 2024.
He collaborates closely with industry stakeholders, providing academic insight and feedback. His expertise is used to review strategic approaches, critically analyse incidents and compile reports for the government. In addition, he designs tailored training programmes for senior leadership teams, enabling organisations to embed resilience thinking into their long term planning and day-to-day operations.
With the increasing recognition of resilience as a strategic priority across sectors, Fabian’s research has proven highly relevant and widely applicable. His work is characterised by deep engagement with practitioners, ensuring that theoretical developments translate into meaningful real-world impact. He is actively involved in several industry and government working groups in the aviation and maritime industries. He is a member of the Risk and Resilience Committee of the International Association of Ports and Harbors, contributing to global discussions on port resilience and critical infrastructure protection.
Fabian holds a PhD in Aviation Resilience from Cranfield University and a BSc in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Stuttgart. His academic background, coupled with extensive collaboration with industry partners, equips him with a unique perspective on resilience, change, and crisis preparedness.
