Amelia Chizwala Peterson is a global infrastructure and governance specialist with more than a decade of experience advancing rural connectivity and public-sector partnerships across Sub-Saharan Africa. She currently serves as the Director of Strategic Partnerships at Fika (formerly known as Bridges to Prosperity), where she leads high-level government engagement and designs sustainable co-financing frameworks. Her strategic oversight ensures policy alignment for rural transport infrastructure programs in several countries including Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, and Ethiopia. Her work focuses on structuring sustainable partnerships between governments, donors, and local communities to deliver last-mile infrastructure that unlocks access to markets, healthcare services, and education. Amelia is also a legal scholar specializing in climate resilience and infrastructure governance. She holds a Juris Doctor and an LL.M. from the University of Colorado in Boulder, with a focus on energy and infrastructure governance. In addition to her professional work, she teaches Climate Finance and Energy Policy to policymakers across Sub-Saharan Africa through postgraduate programs at the University of Zimbabwe and Curtin University in Australia. Her academic research examines legitimacy, public participation, and accountability within large-scale infrastructure decision-making, with a particular focus on the Global South.
