Managing Director and Partner
Arturs Smilkstins is a Managing Director and Partner at Boston Consulting Group, based in London, and BCG’s Global Topic Leader for City Mobility Solutions. He works hands-on with cities, transport authorities, ministries, and mobility players to design and deliver large-scale urban mobility transformations, spanning mobility strategy, operating model design, digital twins, public transport improvement, road and congestion management, micromobility, and sustainable transport systems.
Since joining BCG in 2012, Arturs has advised leading automotive and mobility clients across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, including OEMs, suppliers, retail networks, mobility providers, and public-sector transport leaders. He also leads BCG’s automotive work for the UK, Belgium, and the Netherlands, with deep expertise in sales and marketing strategy, turnarounds, digital transformation, and organizational change.
As a global leader of BCG’s Urban Planning and Mobility work, Arturs has led landmark city mobility programs from strategy through implementation, including the deployment of Urban Solutions AI Brain, BCG’s digital twin solution for urban mobility and cities planning. His work focuses on helping cities move from ambition to measurable outcomes: reducing congestion, improving public and active transport, optimizing infrastructure investment, strengthening transport authority operating models, and building more sustainable, connected, and livable urban systems.
Arturs is a regular contributor to BCG’s urban mobility thought leadership, including Moving Millions: A Recipe to Make Urban Mobility Work and the BCG City Mobility Compass: The Global Champions of Urban Mobility. His work addresses the practical question facing cities and transport leaders globally: how to turn mobility transformation into visible impact for citizens, networks, and economies.
